Council role in West Coast projects clarified

17 December 2015

With an increase in community queries, West Coast Council has clarified its involvement in projects identified by the West Coast Economic Working Group.

The mountain bike trails around Zeehan and Horsetail Falls walking track projects were initiatives identified by the working group with the intention of providing economic stimulus and economic diversification.

“Whilst Council was represented on the Working Group, we do not have any direct involvement in project managing these initiatives since the group wrapped up,” Mayor Phil Vickers stated.  “These projects are now being managed by the Department of State Growth and other State Government agencies including Parks and Wildlife.”

Members of the community with queries regarding the status of the projects should contact Dave Olden from the Department of State Growth on telephone 6477 7092, or for queries specific to the Horsetail Falls project contact Ben Hill, from Parks and Wildlife on telephone 6471 5923.
